That’s exactly it Ben, so much of the U2 gigs (since Zoo TV at the very least) is about the show, the spectacle, the atmosphere etc. I was at Croke Park for the last tour & I thought THAT stage was epic & beautiful & was used to great effect to enhance the gig. This looks frickin’ A!

Seamus, its just the show that they roll with. People who see U2 want to see the big stages and the cool effects. It wouldn’t be a U2 concert if they wheeled bono out on a 40×40 stage with a acoustic guitar.
Also it reflects in the price of the ticket

Just a thought, why is all that structure needed for a concert, seems all a distraction, but then perhaps for such a large venue, things as such are needed to make all, or ones far away, feel more a part of things.
Still, wish I were there for the concerts.
